2024-11-24 newsletter

Greetings from 12 Seasons Farm,

We had another great market day on Saturday at the Bonita Farmer’s
Market. Thank you to all those who came out!

We are planning to have farm pick-up all day on
Wednesday this week due to the Thanksgiving Day on
Thursday. Use the old farm entrance, 14840 Old Olga. Rd. Please drive in
slowly. Kids are around the farm!

We are also reintroducing the pick-up site in Sanibel at
MacIntosh Books and Paper this Wednesday!
Rebecca has kindly
welcomed this option back. We don’t have enough produce to return yet to
the Captiva Farmer’s Market, but would like to offer the pick-up option
for those in Sanibel and Captiva.

For those placing pick-up orders for the farm or for Sanibel/Captiva,
please place an order before 8 pm Monday for a Wednesday pick up at the
farm any time between 8:30 am to 5 pm and at MacIntosh between 11 am and
2 pm (she is open only until 3 pm)

We are also reopening the pre-order option for pick-up at the
Saturday market in Bonita Springs. Please order before 8 pm
Thursday.

Home deliveries are still scheduled to begin December 5.

We plan to return to the Captiva Farmer’s Market on Tuesday,
Dec. 17.

If you have questions, please feel free to text or call Danny at
239-229-3579.

Here is our schedule for this week:

WEDNESDAY SANIBEL MACINTOSH BOOKS DROP SITE: For
those on Sanibel and Captiva, the pick-up option is between 11 am and 2
pm at MacIntosh Books and Paper on Sanibel. Please thank Rebecca for
providing this great service!

WEDNESDAY FARM PICK-UP: Place an order online before
8 pm Tuesday and pick up your order on Thursday at the farm. Use
original farm entrance, 14840 Old Olga Rd. Order is usually split

just left of walk-in cooler.

******SATURDAY BONITA SPRINGS FARMER’S MARKET:** Market runs from
8am-noon. For those interested in pre-ordering for the market, please do
so before 8 pm on Thursday for pick-up at the Saturday market.

Myrah with a bountiful harvest of radishes. We have many kinds
available right now with the large daikons, colorful watermelon types,
and traditional round radish.

Kiki and Nick are relatively new to the farm having arrived back in
early September. Nick began as a volunteer and then after a few weeks
joined the full time team. We are grateful for their contributions. They
have a young daughter and expecting their 2nd child. They are new to
farming and greatly enjoy it here. They hope to have their own homestead
someday.

Will and Launa Caswell and their children are back in town from
Tanzania. They worked at 12 Seasons Farm in 2020 and have come back to
the States for several months. They are pregnant with their 3rd child
and plan to have the baby here before returning to Africa. We are glad
to reconnect with them and they are currently staying at ECHO in N. Ft.
Myers. There was an amazing rainbow behind them in photo.

Lionel is seen here on right planting onions with Nick and LJ in
background. Lionel is a watch engineer from Switzerland. He just
completed his masters degree and had 1 month of vacation before
returning to his specialized engineering job for a watch company. He
chose to come to 12 Seasons Farm for his break and to improve upon his
English. He has been a great contributor and a lot of fun to have
here.

We have finished planting strawberries, around 14,000. We hope for a
good crop. They usually begin to bear in late December.

We have the light green Mediterranean zucchini and the regular green
and striped types fruiting well right now.

We have good starfruit still on the trees! We have been getting good
crops throughout the summer and fall in spite of the storms.

Today Anna Klein led a workshop at the farm on making different body
care products from fruits, herbs, and other natural ingredients. The
workshop was well attended. She donated her time and the proceeds went
to 12 Seasons Farm toward the reconstruction and replanting efforts
after the storms. Thank you Anna and all those who came and for your
generous donations!

We are grateful to Rebecca at MacIntosh Books and Paper who is
opening up her place for Sanibel and Captiva residents to pick up their
produce. The pick-up day will be on Wednesday this week and Thursday in
following weeks between 11 am and 2 pm. Please support her business if
possible and express thanks for her kind service to be a free local
pick-up for the Sanibel and Captiva community.

The whole family plans to be back next market on Saturday. The kids
have been playing soccer on Saturdays this Fall and Vicki is coach for
both Annika’s and Simeon’s teams. Next Saturday they have off so plan to
rejoin me at the market before their season finale the second week of
December.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to grow healthy and delicious
food for you. Your support is so appreciated. May you all have a
wonderful day of Thanksgiving this coming Thursday celebrating with
those you love.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Danny, Vicki, the kids, and the 12 Seasons Team
