Also known as ‘Temple’ Orange. Marvelous heirloom citrus fruit originally discovered in Jamaica but also popularized in Florida in the early days of the Florida citrus industry. In recent decades ‘Temple’ fell out of favor with growers due to the tree’s susceptibility to cold damage and fruit scab. It is also seedy and the tree thorny. However, the fruit quality is amazing. Sprightly flavored, it is a unique balance of sugar and acids. It is fairly easy to peel. There are serious die-hard ‘Temple’ fans out there, and for good reason. It is simply marvelous to eat! Your toes might even wiggle with delight!
