Greetings from 12 Seasons Farm,
We still have good tomatoes, flat kale, chard, broccolini, carrots, flat
parsley, basil, mint, leeks, onions, eggplant, papaya, banana, lychee, and
mango. The options are narrowing as we get deeper into the summer months. For
northern climates, the diversity increases into the summer while here in
southern Florida, the excessive heat, humidity, and pounding rains limit crops.
We have planned two remaining Tuesday drops sites for Sanibel and Captiva.
Please place your order by 8 pm Sunday evening. Thank you to all who ordered
from us this past season and especially as of late.
We will continue with Thursday farm pick up, Thursday home deliveries and
Saturday market pick up at 12 Season Farm. Please place your order by 8 pm
Tuesday for Thursday options; and for Saturday farm pick up, place orders by
Thursday, 8 pm.
Keep in mind that the driveway/farm address for Saturday market and pick-up is
the west entrance at 14820 (listed below in blue bolded text). It is a
different driveway and address for the Thursday farm pick-up which is at 14840,
the east driveway.
Here is our schedule for this week:
TUESDAY SANIBEL
DROP SITE: A free drop site in Sanibel each Tuesday from 9 am to 3 pm.
This site is hosted by Melissa Lehman. Her address and phone # should be on
your order confirmation email. This will be a self-serve option. Pick up at
their home in their screened foyer which is easily accessible from their
driveway. Produce will be on shelves. There should be 1 spot open in their
driveway for a quick pick up. Order online and please pay by credit card (no
cash or checks please). If you see Melissa,
please thank her for providing this option. Order by 8 pm Sunday for this
option.
THURSDAY FARM
PICK-UP & HOME DELIVERY: Place an order online before 8 pm Tuesday
for Thursday all day pick-up at the farm or to receive a home delivery. For
farm pick-up, use original farm entrance, 14840 Old Olga Rd.
Order is usually split between cold produce in walk-in cooler and the air
conditioned structure just left of walk-in cooler.
SATURDAY MARKET AT 12

Old Olga Rd., Ft. Myers, FL 33905 driveway/address. For those interested in preordering

Our small and humble stand of produce at Saturday’s market. Thanks to all who
came!
We are starting to get more bananas now that we are far enough along from
Hurricanes Helene and Milton which damaged so much of the banana crop this
season.
Mangoes are still plentiful!
We are starting to offer 10# flats of mangoes for $30.
The jackfruit set a decent amount of fruit and they are sizing up nicely. The
jackfruit is the largest tree fruit species in the world. It is amazing to
witness them grow. They eventually become like watermelons on a tree.
We still have carrots we are harvesting.
We do have a decent amount of broccolini available.
Meanwhile, we are starting to put to rest certain fields, mowing the weeds
down. Here is Ek on the tractor.
After we mow the weeds, we cover the fields with weed fabric to kill off the
weeds. This allows us to not require tillage with a disc harrow and preserve
the integrity of the beds as we prepare for next season. The organic matter can
increase, compost and fertilizer inputs can be preserved, and even soil
organisms like millipedes persist under the weed tarps. This was not the case
when I use to do frequent discings to manage the massive weed pressure from all
the summer heat and rain. It is hard, hot work to cover the fields but so far
we are pleased with the results. This coming season will be our 4th season of
no tillage.
If anyone is ever interested in farm kittens, we have several that need a home.
Contact us if interested.
We took a break from the farm and headed north to see family. We stopped at
Troy Springs State Park in N. Florida.
We also made a visit to Ocheesee Creamery in Blountstown, FL. This is the dairy
we have had as our family milk source for nearly 10 years. The kids are
enjoying some ice cream.
Thanks to all who ordered last week and came to the Saturday market.
We have gotten some much needed rest. And we hope the same for you!
Danny, Vicki, the kids, and the 12 Seasons Team
