We had our first market last Saturday at the farm. While most of the
rain had already passed and we did not have any significant wind, the
threat of the storm probably kept some folks away. Anna was still there
as our first customer of the day! We are grateful to her as a dear
family friend, medical advisor, and faithful customer.

Simeon and Benjamin were there with me setting up the stand in the
morning. They were both excellent helpers!

I measured a little over 5 inches of rain, mainly from the steady
rain most of the day on Friday. Both creeks on the farm, Olga Creek
(above) and Old Olga Creek were both flowing strong. Thankfully there
was no flooding.

Carrot season is about over, but we were impressed to have this final
harvest in early June that went to Bay House restaurant. It is somewhat
unusual to have carrots this late into the hot humid time of the year.
Great job Cate and Emma! They did excellent work at seeding and
stewarding the carrot plantings this season!

While we have had a bit of pause in sweet pepper production, today we
had a decent harvest and these are now available again. We generally
pick 3X/week, but the production has been abysmal lately. It is nice to
see the plants give a good yield again. Photo by Cate.

Today we went to Poe Springs Park in High Springs, FL. It is a fun
little county park with a 1/4-1/2 mile boardwalk through a wetland
forest to a beautiful spring that flows in to the Sante Fe River. The
kids had a blast. One of the spring’s vents was quite shallow– just
about 5 feet underwater– and you could swim down, hold on to a rock, and
put your head at the limestone opening (a crevice just a few feet long
and about a foot wide) and feel the water blasting out of the opening.
So exhilarating!

Visiting springs in North Florida is one of our family’s favorite
ways to recreate in Florida. They are such a unique and special part of
Florida’s identity.

Here a couple hundred feet down river from Poe Spring, the clear cold
spring water intersects with the warmer tannin-rich Santa Fe River
(darker, background water). The kids had fun playing on the rope
swing!

We are enjoying a bit of rest from the farm this week en route to
visiting Vicki’s family in Oklahoma. We have a small but strong crew
back at the farm taking care of things. Cate, Ek, Jedilo, Zach, Mary
Ann, Josie, Ellie, and Elena are working to bring you healthy and tasty
produce! We are grateful for such a great team!

We hope you are enjoying special seasons of rest with family and
friends this summer!

Have a wonderful week!

Danny, Vicki, the kids, and the 12 Seasons Team
