2023-02-20 newsletter
Greetings to the residents of Sanibel and Captiva from the farm,
Several of you are new to our newsletter. We write a newsletter
specifically for the residents of Sanibel and Captiva, usually on
Saturday or in this case Friday evening. This allows us to communicate
directly with you about relevant details to the market and preorder pick
up. We then write a more extensive newsletter (though some of it is
repetitive) to all customers on our mailing list usually each Monday.
Thank you for being interested. Feel free to unsubscribe at any moment.
No hard feelings!
As for farm news, we had a good week. The heat is accelerating the
ripening of many of our crops. So far it is fine as the days are still
decently short, but we hope for more moderated temperatures in March as
I don’t recall a February with this high of temperatures.
Here is a photo overlooking the carrot field and next flight of
cherry tomatoes under the bamboo structure we are building to screen out
the stink bugs.
This week it was Josiah’s turn to go to market with his older sister
Annika.

We have our new greenhouses erected and covered. This is an exciting
development for us to have this project nearly complete. The tomatoes
are planted and doing well.
Ek and his son Mikha. Ek does a lot of our screenhouse building on
the farm! This makes it much easier to grow the produce organically by
screening damaging insects out and keeping the dew and rain off the
tomato plants which creates habit for more leaf diseases.
We have enough tomatoes now that we have them available online by 10#
flats.
We look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday! We appreciate the
many affirming and kind words you have shared with us. It is our
pleasure to serve you! Have a great weekend.
